Explaining Me

Hello!
This being my first blog, I guess I'll start out by introducing myself. You can call me Mountain Gal.
The aim of this blog is focused on my life. I move a lot, probably more than normal. Since April of 2008, I have moved an average of every two years. I will be talking more about that in a later post, with a more detailed account of the places I've lived.

I have lived in four different states, and about five different places (same town, different house, or different town, different house) in each state. Currently, I am in Arizona.

Because I move a lot, l have relied for many years on letters from pen pals. You wouldn't believe how many times my sanity has been saved by my friend Noodle. By the way, Noodle has a blog too. Check it out! Just search "Too Hick To Be Square" on Google. She's got some pretty hilarious material on there.   ;-)

Most of my pen pals are the daughters of my mom's friends from all across the country! They are spread throughout the United States. I started writing to virtually unknown girls back in 2009, and I am still connected to a good 50%.
It was hard work to be writing to thirteen+ girls as a ten year old, so eventually I got an email address. Now, almost six years later, I chat almost bi-daily with several of them.
It has been a bit hard, not having personal friends wherever we've moved. Two years ago we found a family of five that we really hit it off with, and everyone became friends. Since we moved away, we have talked on my mom's phone, emailed and chatted back and forth. It wasn't until we moved here, to Arizona, that I found people my age, though.
We started going to different churches trying to discern our favorite.
Yes, you can have favorite churches.   ;-)
We visited one, and I found out that they hold a Youth Group! Long story short, I became friends with the pastor's daughter and several of her friends.

So now you know a bit of my schedule. Youth Group is on my weekly calendar.
I still have yet to get familiar with a couple of teens there, but I have a hunch that this week's gift exchange will be the ice breaker.

My younger sister has found a friend there, as well. I'm happy for her.
Until this year there hasn't been much communication for her.
I am the eldest of four children in my family. I have two younger brothers and one younger sister (though not in that order).
My mom homeschools all of us. I admire her courage. I can be pretty thick sometimes. Math just flies over my head. I'm much better at English.

I love to write, as well. You may have picked that up from my pen pal paragraph. Or even the length of this particular post.
*guilty smirk*
I must admit, of all my interests, I like to read and write the most. Crafting comes close after that. I make little clay animals, sculptures, and objects, I draw a bit, and I use recycled materials to make random pieces of a decorative nature.

Some of my favorite books/book series are
The Chronicles Of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Warriors, and basically anything by Brandon Mull.
My friend and I have a blog together that we review books for. You can find it if you look up "Noodle and Mountain Gal".

Well, now you know my life's basics. Stick around and I will add some depth to my story.   :-)    Until next time,
Mountain Gal
